Donald Loren Bang, 88, of Hager City, Wisconsin, died Saturday, January 9, 2016, at the Ellsworth Care Center. He was born April 29, 1927, in Red Wing, to Loren and Edla (Carlson) Bang. He grew up on the family farm in Trenton Township, Wisc. and graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1945. He served in the US Army during the Korean War from 1952-1954. On June 6, 1956, he was united in marriage to Laura "June" Cross and together they farmed their entire lives on his family farm. He stayed active until the last months of his life, taking daily walks on the farm and selling wood with his brother, John. Donald was a member of United Methodist Church in Red Wing.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, June Bang of Hager City; 2 sons, Tom Bang of LaHabra, Calif. and Tim (Anne) Bang of Foley, Minn.; 2 granddaughters, Katherine (Daryn) and Caroline and a brother, John Bang of Hager City. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Elmer and sisters-in-law, Viola, Harriet and Gladys.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 16, 2016, at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Greg Strunk officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial with military honors by Leo C. Peterson American Legion #54 will be at Oakwood Cemetery.
