Donald Raymond Anderson, 91, of Red Wing, died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011 at his home at Deer Crest. He was born Feb. 23, 1920, in Red Wing, to Alfred and Hilda (Lindquist) Anderson. He graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1939 and attended Dunwoody Institute. In 1940 he worked for Lockheed Aircraft Corporation prior to going into the US Army Air Corps in 1943. He served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1946. He worked for SB Foot Tanning Company, the Minnesota Sate Grain Weighing Department and retired in 1981 from the Red Wing School District. He was a life-long member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, a 50 plus year member of Leo C. Peterson American Legion post #54 and was a past member of Red Men Club. He enjoyed playing team sports, hunting, fishing, bowling and had also enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins. In his younger years, he had played baseball on the Goodhue/Wabasha County League. Donald was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Reverend Kristen Schlauderaff officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery with military honors by the Leo C. Peterson American Legion #54. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials preferred to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or Fairview Red Wing Hospice.
