Dolores M. (Gorsy) Nelson, 89, passed away on May 29, 2018 after an extended battle with cancer. She was born to Fred and Lynne (Mason) Van Deusen on May 25, 1929 in Red Wing. She attended grade and high school in Red Wing. Gorsy was married to John Nelson in Ellsworth, WI on March 1, 1947. This union produced three lovely daughters, Linda, Laurie, and Brenda. She was an active member of the Church of St. Joseph.

Gorsy was very active in various projects and sports. She loved gardening, planting various flowers and raised many varieties of roses, where she won several champion ribbons at rose expos. She was active in golf and bowling, winning several trophies and awards for golf tournaments. For many years she was active in bowling in Red Wing and was secretary for several leagues. Her greatest achievement in bowling happened in 1956, when she won the "Bowlerama" Tournament on WCCO Television for five consecutive weeks. She worked as a secretary for a local attorney for 17 years and became quite proficient in income tax preparation.

Gorsy was a loving mother and wife, caring for her family with tender and devout attention. She became an accomplished seamstress, designing and sewing many beautiful dresses, gowns, and furnishings for herself and her daughters. She also designed and sewed a beautiful wedding gown for her daughters. In later years, one granddaughter requested that she design a gown for her high school prom, Grandma offered to buy a gown for her, but the granddaughter insisted that she have a grandmother design.

She also did crocheting, making many afghans, tablecloths, and bedspreads for friends and family. To sum it all up, Gorsy was a very beautiful and talented lady. God bless her.
