Dolores Velma Du Bois, age 73, of Hager City, died Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Valentines Assisted Living in Red Wing. She was born on March 23, 1942 in Tomah, Wisconsin to Thomas and Velma (Mattie) Welsh. She grew up and attended school in LaCrosse and worked for Fanny Farmer Candy Company, Victor's Restaurant, and finally a roller skate waitress at a root beer stand where she met her future husband. She married Terry Du Bois on October 16, 1963 in LaCrosse; they later divorced. She lived in Minneapolis and LaCrosse before moving to Hager City. Dolores worked at Nybo's, St. John's Hospital, Liberty's Restaurant, and Lutheran Social Services while raising her three children. She loved cats, fishing, camping with her grandchildren, and music, especially Neil Diamond. She loved to talk and tell stories. Dolores was a great listener and her door was always open.
Survivors include three children, Mike Du Bois and Paula Burke, both of Hager City, and Jonathan (Carla DePalma) Du Bois of Red Wing; four grandchildren, Nathan (Jenny) Melstrom of Hager City, Taylor Burke of Zumbrota, Justin Burke of Red Wing, and Samuel Du Bois of Red Wing; two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Lily Melstrom; two siblings, Earl (Karen) Welsh of Florida and Gerald Welsh of Tomah, Wis. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant sister, Darlene; and two brothers, Frank and Ahren.
Memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 30, 2015 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Bill Bradley officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
