Diane Jean Robertson

Diane Jean Robertson, 80, of Red Wing and formerly of Elkader & Waukon, Iowa, died Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at the Benedictine Living Community. She was born February 19, 1943, in Volney, Iowa to Leonard and Margaretta (Darling) Steele. She grew up helping her parents run the local store in Volney while attending school. Later, as a young woman, Diane had 3 boys who she raised by herself, until she met her husband, Richard Robertson. They were married in 1965 and lived in Waukon, Iowa, where she helped her husband on the farm and was a homemaker and mother, caring for her 4 children. They later moved to Elkader, Iowa where she worked at the wire plant and then retired from working at Central Community Hospital. Richard passed away in 2010 and she moved to the Red Wing, MN area to be near her family. Diane was known for her spicy attitude, her kind heart, love of all animals, and her unwavering love of family. She and Rich enjoyed being outside tending their flower gardens and often made time to play cards with friends and family.

She is survived by 3 sons, Tim (Carmen) Rounds, Todd (Cindy) Rounds, Terry (Sharon) Rounds; 1 daughter, Michelle (Marshall Hallock) Robertson; 15 grandchildren, Dustin (Kristi) Rounds, Nikki (Josh) Volbrecht, Nate (Alysia) Olson, Allysia (Han) Ataman, Toni Rounds, Kimmy Rounds, Sarah (Steven) Flores, Jessy Dundee, Brad (Katie) Stahl, Taylor Rounds, Julia Rounds, Mason Hallock, Matison Schoeder, Montana Hallock, and Kennedie Hallock; 9 great-grandchildren, Isabella, Gavin, Finn, Jaxon, Jagger, Liam, Harper, Piper, Alayah; sister, Kay (Kurt) Vorwald.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rich and 2 sisters, Iris Waters and LaVonne Palmer.
