Dian M. Bryant

June 4, 1932 — December 28, 2014

Dian Marie Bryant, age 82, of Red Wing, passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2014, at the home of her daughter, surrounded by loved ones. She was born Dian Marie Olson on June 4, 1932, in Red Wing, to Clarence and Marcella (Otterson) Olson. She attended Red Wing Central High School, graduating in 1950.
On February 21, 1953, Dian married Russell Bryant in Red Wing. He passed away on September 6, 2001.
After graduation, Dian went to work at Citizen Bank Mutual Fire Insurance Company. She remained there until 1956 when she decided to become a stay-at-home mom. Twenty-six years later, she went to work for KCUE/KWNG radio station in Red Wing, retiring in 1994. During her retirement she worked occasionally at Old Fashioned Foods in Red Wing.
She enjoyed playing golf, bowling, playing bridge, knitting, reading, flower gardening, feeding the birds, and watching TV. She especially loved watching the Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune. Most of all she loved being with her family.
Dian will be greatly missed by her three children, James (Connie) Bryant, Cindy (James) Carlson, and Charley (Tami) Bryant, all of Red Wing; step-daughter, Linda Sherman of Buffalo, MN; nine grandchildren, Jessica Bryant of Miami, FL, Danielle Bryant of Seattle, WA; Nicholas (Aleisha) Carlson of St. Joseph, MN, Katie Carlson, Stacy Carlson, Lucas Bryant, Jordyn Bryant, Elle Bryant, and Logan Bryant, all of Red Wing; three step-grandchildren, Ben (Leesa) Sherman of Maple Lake, MN, Rachel (Chad) Merrifield of Bloomington, and Alesha (Dan) Sacco of New Prague; three step-great-grandchildren, Allison and Nathan Sherman and Ian Sacco; sister-in-law, Shirley Torkelson of Red Wing; nieces, Marge (Willie Buck) Deden of Red Wing & Shirley Ann (Norman) Rehder of Hudson, WI; cousins, Jennifer (Mark) Have of Afton, MN and Brent (Debbie) Jensen of Hudson, WI; special classmates from high school, Lorry Anderson, Helen Wallace, and Jean Burkard, along with many other classmates from the class of 1950; her special bridge group, Marilyn Anderson, Evie Perkins, Ruthie Brunner, Joanie Burkard, and many other bridge friends; longtime neighbors, Bob and Rita Rietmann, Dave and Jane Quade, Morgan, Laura, and Greta Lane, Ronnie and Marion Tesdall, and Jerry and Sue Diercks; and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russ Bryant; brother, Bruce Olson; daughter, Jan Bryant; grandson, Jacob Carlson; and her close friend, Alice Allyn.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 3, 2015, at First Lutheran Church, with Reverend William Odermann officiating. Private burial will take place at a later date. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to Red Wing Mayo Hospice, the Kiwanis Flower Basket Fund, or donor's choice.
