Dennis Schumacher

Dennis M. Schumacher, age 76, of Lake City died Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at the Lake City Nursing Home.
He was born April 5, 1934 in Chester Township to Alfred and Florence (Miller) Schumacher. Dennis grew up in the Oak Center area. He graduated from Lake City High School in 1952. He married Marian Grobe on June 28, 1952 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City. He began working at the Lake City Graphic Newspaper in 1950, which he and Marian later owned and operated until their retirement in 2002. He also owned and operated Hiawatha Design from 1976 to 2001. Marian passed away August 17, 2009. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and spending time with his family, which included going on vacations and watching his children and grandchildren in all of their activities. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City, the Lake City Country Club, Lake City Sportsman's Club, Frontenac Sportsman's Club, Lake City Lions, Lake City Chamber, Lake City Jaycees, and the Lake City Bowling Hall of Fame. Dennis was also a member of the Lake City Fire Department for 21 years from 1962 to 1984 and the Minnesota Newspaper Association Half Century Club.
Survivors include sons, Bruce (Pat) of Lake City, Dennis (Terri) of Old Frontenac, Terry (Shari) of Lake City, Mark of Chanhassen, Dean (Mary) of Lake City; daughters, Susan (Tom) Halder, Donna (Curtis) Meyer, and Amy (Mark) Matanich all of Lake City; seventeen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; an uncle, Eldon (Marion) Miller of Lake City; aunt, Beulah Ahrens of Rochester. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marian, brother, Duane; granddaughter, Vanessa Halder.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 27, 2010 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City with Reverend Dennis Valleau officiating. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery in Lake City. Pallbearers will be Dennis' grandchildren and Honorary Pallbearers will be the Lake City Fire Department active and retired members. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
