Dennis B. Nielsen

Dennis Brian Nielsen, 64, of Lakeville, died peacefully on Thursday at Abbott Northwestern Hospital with his family at his side. He was born March 2, 1944 in Red Wing, to Einer and Bernice (Stein) Nielsen. He graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1962. He enlisted in the US Air Force in 1962 and was honorably discharged in 1965. After being in the service, he attended the University of Minnesota. On February 15, 1980 he married Sherry Sue Williams Hoffman and they lived in Minneapolis and then in Lakeville. He worked for North American Life and Casualty (Allianz) in Minneapolis, where he was employed for 34 years until his retirement in 1998.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry of Lakeville; daughter, Heather Ousley of Lakeville; grandson, Chase McNulty; brother Ronnie (Connie) Nielsen of Bloomington, MN; sister, Donna Steele of Hager City, WI and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial service will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Reverend Greg Fondell officiating. Visitation will be from 12-1:30 p.m. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery with military honors. Memorials preferred for lymphoma research.
