Dennis Lewerer

January 17, 1945 — December 14, 2024

Ellsworth

Dennis "Denny" Roland Lewerer, 79, of Ellsworth, died Saturday, December 14, 2024 at his home. He was born January 17, 1945 in Stillwater, Minn. to Roland and Loretta (Fenner) Lewerer. He graduated from Stillwater High School and after a few years of working, was drafted. He joined the Navy where he served until his honorable discharge in 1969. While he held various jobs, he spent most of his career working for Andersen Windows as a maintenance technician.

Denny loved having fun. He was a very social guy who loved a good party with good people. He had the sense of humor that comes with being just a little curmudgeonly and lacking a consistent filter. He was good-natured but was going to tell you like it was.

Denny loved his lizards. In earlier years, he could be seen around town with his pet iguana riding on his shoulders. He was into motorcycles and old cars. His son, Jon, raced cars and Denny was always eager to watch him race.

He loved time with the grandkids. He enjoyed teaching them to play checkers right up until they started to beat him and he couldn't say he was letting them win anymore. He was also a big fan of his granddogs and they were a fan of him, particularly since he was often carrying Beggin' Strips.

Denny will be missed by many, including his son, Jon (Amy) Lewerer; brother, Gary (Rosemary) Lewerer; sister, Marilyn (Joe) Ries; his families, Mike, Erin, Michael and Mady DeStasio and Dean, Becky, Courtney, and Gabe Forschen; as well as many nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Lewerer; infant brother, Michael; and their parents.

Denny will be interred at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com. Arrangements with Mahn Family Funeral Home, Ellsworth Chapel.
