Dennis received his pilot's license as a young man and eventually bought his own Cessna 150 airplane. A regular at the Red Wing Airport, Dennis greatly enjoyed learning about the airplanes and getting to know the other pilots, often accompanying them on their flights. He also continued to fly himself, and many times would invite friends and acquaintances to join him--something he greatly enjoyed doing. Dennis had special cars and trucks of his own, too, but he often left the car at home and could be seen walking his route through the town, frequently stopping at the Red Wing Library.
He is survived by his brother, Dan (Elaine) Ahern of Red Wing; sister, Cheryl (Herbert) Voorhees of Rogers, Arkansas; 3 nephews; 1 niece; his special friend, Sue Huber of Red Wing and his 2 cat companions. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lawrence Ahern.
A celebration of life for Dennis will take place at a later date. Memorials are preferred to the Red Wing Public Library. Arrangements handled by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
