DeLores Ione Koenig

DeLores Ione Koenig, 79, of Oronoco, died Wednesday, June 08, 2011 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. She was born on January 1, 1932, in Pine Island Township, the daughter of Arnold and Gladys (Berg) Degener. She graduated from Pine Island High School and attended Rochester Community College for secretarial training. She worked at the Mayo Clinic as a secretary in Neurology. She married Duane Koenig on January 22, 1951 at Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Pine Island. While Duane served in the United States Army, DeLores worked as a secretary at the army base. They returned to Oronoco and they farmed together. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Oronoco, where she played the organ for many years. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and was an exceptional seamstress, and was very artistic.
She is survived by her husband Duane Koenig of Oronoco; two daughters, Lynn (Leondias) Butcher of Long Lake, Lora (Jeffrey) Bertschinger of Pine Island; two grandsons, Ryan and Daniel Bertschinger; one step-granddaughter, LuTrenze Butcher-Mitchell; one step-grandson Leondrel Butcher; one sister, Laurel Cornish; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. on Monday, June 13, 2011 at Grace Lutheran Church in Oronoco, with Reverend Paul Baldauf officiating. Burial will be at Oronoco Cemetery. Visitation will be 1:00-3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to Grace Lutheran Church Music Fund.
