Delores "Dee" Johnson

Delores "Dee" Ann Johnson, 76, of Burnsville, died Saturday, January 28, 2017, surrounded by her family. She was born on November 18, 1940, in Morris, Minn., to Bernard and Irene (Wyman) Nelsen. She grew up in Morris and received her LPN degree. On July 9, 1966, she married Vern Johnson. They lived in Benson, Minn., where they started farming and raised their family. In 1979, they moved to Alexandria to continue farming until the summer of 1987, when they moved to Burnsville. She then worked for Mayflower Distributing as a bookkeeper. In 1993, she started Dee's Daycare taking care of many kids for 20 years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and watching men's and women's basketball. Her family recalls her love for being a compassionate caregiver, making the best pancakes and loving Jesus with all her heart and soul.

Dee is survived by her husband, Vern; four children, Jay (Anita), Randy (Tricia), Steve (Angie) and Lisa (Chris) Klomps; eight grandchildren, Ty, Eli, Noah, Micah, Gracie, Flurry, Maysa and Kaden; and four siblings, Wayne Nelsen, Leona Lent, Bernie Nelsen and Lee Nelsen. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Jack and Dorothy "Dottie".

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday, February 3, 2017, at the River Valley Church, Apple Valley Campus, 14898 Energy Way, Apple Valley 55124. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Private family burial will be at Pleasant View Memorial Gardens in Burnsville. Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer's Association.
