Delores Bye

PINE ISLAND � A Mass of Christian Burial for Delores Bye will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Pine Island with Rev. Steven Hoffman officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael's Catholic Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Bye, 85, of Pine Island, died Saturday, (Aug. 16, 2008) at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester from complications following a stroke.
Delores Mildred Deering was born Oct. 12, 1922 in South St. Paul, MN to Paul W. and Gabriella (Sadinka) Deering. She grew up in South St. Paul and graduated from St. Joseph's Academy. She then did clerical work for the Montgomery Wards Co. On Oct. 21, 1944 she married Joyce R. Bye in South St. Paul. Mr. Bye was in the U.S. Navy and the couple lived in Norfolk, VA where he was stationed. The couple returned to South St. Paul where she again worked for the Montgomery Wards Co. and Mr. Bye worked at the Ford Motor Co. In 1950 the couple moved to his family's farm near Pine Island and farmed until 1990 when they retired. She had resided at Evergreen Place in Pine Island since 2001. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and its circles. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, travelling, and camping.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Ruth (Robert) Kraft of Oronoco, MN; three sons, Jerome of Viola, MN; David (Lana), and Raymond (Robin), both of Pine Island; nineteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; and two sisters, Catherine Hanson of St. Paul, MN; and Rachel Deering of Illinois. Her parents, a son, and a brother preceded her in death.
Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Mahn Family Funeral Home � Mahler Chapel in Pine Island, and one hour before the service at the church on Thursday.
