Della M. Cantrell

Obituary: Della M. Cantrell Funeral service for Della M. Cantrell will be on Friday, October 13, 2006 at 12 noon in the Rochester Community Baptist Church with Reverend Don Barlow officiating. Casketbearers will be Minister Marshall Sheppard, Jr., Rick Moss, Sr., Kenneth Cantrell, Jr., Marshall Sheppard, III, Kristopher Cantrell, Joseph Jefferson, Minister Emmett Bullard and Elder Riley Wesley. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Della Marie Cantrell, age 71, of Rochester, died on Sunday, October 8, 2006 at Rochester Methodist Hospital. She was born to Willie and Pearlie (Williams) Cantrell on August 12, 1935 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. At a young age, her family moved to Elkhart, Indiana where she was reared. It was in Elkhart that she married and raised four daughters. Della was saved and was filled by the Holy Ghost at Roberts Temple COGIC in 1958. She moved to Pasadena, California in 1962 and joined with Holy Assembly COGIC. Here she worked in the church as a Sunday school teacher, teenage class leader, choir director, played piano and sang. She later moved to Los Angeles where she joined Mt. Calvary COGIC. It was here that the Lord called her to minister. In 1983 she became a licensed evangelist missionary under the first jurisdiction of California COGIC. Della asked the Lord to lead her and He sent her to Rochester in 1989. Della is survived by her four daughters: Gwendolyn Jefferson, of San Bernardino, CA, Greta J. (Rick) Moss, of Alameda, CA, Linda (Marshall) Sheppard, of Rochester, MN and Artisha Andrews, of St. Paul, MN; fourteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth (Betty) Cantrell, of Atlanta, GA; three sisters: Cassandra (Eric) Robinson, of Cincinnati, OH, Adrienne Campbell, of Cincinnati, OH, and Pamela Cantrell, of Rochester, MN. Her parents, one sister, Erma Coggains, and one brother, Charles Cantrell preceded her in death. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
