Delbert Hilmere Breuer, 84, of Red Wing, died Monday, December 2, 2013 at Season's Hospice House in Rochester. He was born November 14, 1929 in Red Wing to Armond and Mildred (Wiebusch) Breuer. He attended school in Welch. He then served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1955. Following his discharge, he attended the University of Minnesota School of Agriculture. He married Rose Morgan and the couple farmed near Hastings for a short time. They moved to Welch where he farmed and worked for Peavy/ConAgra in Hastings until the early 1990's. He continued to farm until 1998 when he retired. Delbert enjoyed traveling, dancing and being with his special friend, Roberta Jacobson. The family recalls how he was a steward of the land, planting trees and being in the outdoors. He was a Y-Pals sponsor and active with the Goodhue County Willing Welchers 4-H. He was a member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his four children, Darrell (Debbie) of Red Wing, Danita (Cory) Ahrens of Cottage Grove, Allen (Dawn) of Plainview, Daniel (Danelle) of Cannon Falls; nine grandchildren, Sheana, Garret, Christa, Kaitlyn, Jessica, Matthew, Max, Mitchell and Abigail; one great-grandchild, Hailey; four sisters, Delores (Howard) Hase of Red Wing, Darlene (Bud) Kieffer of Arizona, Diane Cole of Florida and Devonna (Gary) Meyer of Kellogg; many nieces and nephews and his former wife, Rose Breuer of Red Wing. He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Delphine Nelson and one great-grandchild, Faye.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church of Welch with Reverend Robert Berthold officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Friday, December 6, 2013 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel in Red Wing and also one hour prior to the service at church. Memorials are preferred to YMCA Y-Pals of Red Wing or Cross of Christ Lutheran Church. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
