Delayne Edwina McKinley

Delayne "Dee" Edwina McKinley, 61, of Minnesota Lake, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at her home. She was born October 8, 1948 in Lake City to Edwin and Helen (Christison) Walters. She was baptized and confirmed at First United Methodist Church in Red Wing and was a 1966 graduate of Red Wing Central High School. She married Gary McKinley in 1966. She had trained as a lab tech in Minneapolis before graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree from Bellevue University. Dee was a military wife, and she and her husband had lived several different places. They had three children and she was very devoted to her family. She was an artist, poet, naturalist and arborist. She enjoyed dogsledding, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Gary of Minnesota Lake; 3 children, Victoria (Joe) Garcia of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Richard (Karie) McKinley of Plattsmouth, Nebraska and Jenny (Garrett) Krosschell of Wells, Minn.; 12 grandchildren, Allyssia, Dee, Brittany, Calli Jo, Alexander, Katrina, Katherine, Shannon, Shawn, Nicholas, Joy and Hap and a sister, Gayle (Calvin) Miller of Chatfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a nephew, a sister-in-law and 2 brother-in-laws.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Wayne Walther officiating. Burial will be at Cherry Valley Cemetery in Cannon Falls. Visitation will be for 2 hours prior to the service at the church. Arrangements handled by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
