Debora Jean Swanson

Debora Jean Swanson, 70, of Red Wing, died Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at her home. She was born October 10, 1951 in Minneapolis, Minn.

She graduated from Pine Island High School and went to work in administration in the health care field, including Burnsville Counseling Center, the Kidney Foundation, and the Golden Valley Health Clinic. She also worked in foster care. Deb also raised two daughters.

Deb loved creating art with gel pens. She enjoyed shopping and trips to the casino. She loved playing cards and dominos. Deb was thoughtful and generous and enjoyed making and giving gifts. She wrote individual letters as Santa to many children every year, enclosing little gifts with her kind words. She was always eager to lend a hand and to look out for those in need. She also loved being a grandmother.

She will be missed by many, including her husband of 39 years, Delwin Swanson of Red Wing; daughters, Ricole Peterson of Red Wing and Shawna (Jamison) Cox of Lakeville, Minn.; Delwin's daughter, Tina Tomberlin; 7 grandchildren, Brandon Buckley, Bryce Buckley, Jamison Cox, Jr., Kayleigh Cox, Frank Tomberlin, Elsie Tomberlin and Alex Norberg; siblings, Tom Kunz, Kathy O’Malley, Jeff Kunz, Scott Kunz and Jamie Kunz; step-father, Ed Kunz; as well as many nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Donna Kunz and her beloved grandma, “Ahmah.”
