Dean Henry Plote, 78, of Red Wing, died Monday, February 12, 2007, at his daughter?s home in Red Wing, following a brief illness. He was born on September 11, 1928 in West Florence Township, Wabasha County, Minnesota to Erwin and Emma (Wimmer) Plote. He attended schools in Lake City and for a number of years worked for Gould Foundry in Lake City. On October 4, 1952, he married Lila Nash in Frontenac. For 55 years he worked as a carpenter for various contractors in the area. Lila died on January 26, 2007. He was a member of St. John?s Lutheran Church in Red Wing and the Carpenters Union 2083. He enjoyed fishing, amateur baseball and playing cards. Survivors include one daughter, Cindy (Lee) Bakke of Red Wing; two grandchildren, Katie (Mitch) Brooks of Scotland, South Dakota and Karl (Christine) Bakke of Red Wing; three great grandchildren, Jacob, Abby and Benjamin Brooks; one sister, Marjorie Willers of Mazeppa and one sister-in-law, Jane Plote of Inver Grove Heights. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife and one brother, Harold. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John?s Lutheran Church with Rev. Todd Engel officiating. Burial will be in the Burnside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and at the church for one hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to the donor?s choice.
