Dean Raymond Luhman was born on March 21, 1939, in Red Wing, the son of Raymond and Mildred (Vieths) Luhman. After graduating from high school, Dean started his own business hauling canned milk for Bellechester Creamery. Dean married Marcia Mae Diercks on April 23, 1960, and began farming and raising a family. After thirty-five years of farming, Dean drove truck for Holms Brothers (Goodhue) and Roberson Lime and Rock (Zumbro Falls). He finished his working career at Menards in Red Wing, fully retiring in 2020. Dean was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Goodhue and remained dedicated to his strong Christian faith throughout his life. Dean enjoyed spending time with his family, watching birds and wildlife, building jigsaw puzzles, watching westerns and compiling his family history. He passed away peacefully at his home in Zumbrota surrounded by family, and will be remembered for his dedication to farming and his family, his blue eyes, and his kind heart.
Survivors include his loving wife Marcia of 61 years; children, Kevin (Bonnie) Luhman, Kari (David) Johnson, Lance (Julie) Luhman, Lonn Luhman, Lisa (Duane) Miller, Kristi (Bryan) Miller, Karla (Mark) Thermos; 21 grandchildren, Terrill, Dustin, Amanda, Samantha, Chase, Colt, Chance, Valerie, Shelby, Tristan, Trevor, Gage, Kyle, Micah, Caleb, Christopher, Garrett, Bethany, Bo, Brett and Klarissa; 24 great grandchildren; sister, Barbara (Wally) Milow; brothers, Allan (Sherry) Luhman and Jonathan (Lora) Luhman; as well as nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Mildred; his brothers, Darwin, Curtis, Larris, Raymond, Randal and Arlan; his sisters, Suzanne and Mary Lori; and grandson, Cody Johnson.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 22nd, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel, 1475 Jefferson Drive, Zumbrota, MN 55992. The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 23rd, at Grace Lutheran Church, 39774 County 4 Blvd, Goodhue, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
