ROCHESTER The funeral for Dean W. Drewes will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church in Rochester with the Rev. Gregory Heidorn officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Stewartville, MN.
Mr. Drewes, 82, of Rochester, died Saturday (Oct. 11, 2008) at Shorewood Senior Campus.
Born Jan. 9, 1926 in rural Spring Valley, MN he attended Spring Valley schools. He farmed in the Spring Valley area and on Feb. 3, 1951 he married Dorothea Krahn in Stewartville. He served in the U.S. Army and returned to farming in the Spring Valley area after his discharge. The couple moved to Rochester in the late 1950's where he worked for Gopher Aviation. He then worked as a Postal Clerk at the Rochester Post Office for over twenty five years. After his retirement from the Post Office he worked part time for the Marquette Bank and then the Associated Bank. Mrs. Drewes died on Aug. 12, 1980. He had resided at the Shorewood Senior Campus for the last three years. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and enjoyed his cabin at the lake in Wisconsin, travelling, and going to coffee with friends.
Survivors include his daughter Patricia Bakken of Ham Lake, MN; a grandson Eric (Heather) Bakken of Colorado Springs, CO; a granddaughter Andrea Bakken of Ham Lake; and special friends Pete and Meda Kreps of Rochester. He was preceded in death by his wife, one sister, and four brothers.
Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Mahn Family Funeral Home Rochester Chapel, and one hour before the service at the church.
Memorials are suggested to Grace Lutheran Church, Comfort Home Health Care, or Seasons Hospice.
