David Allan Ronning

David Allan Ronning, 72, of Pine Island, died Saturday, November 12, 2011 at his home. He was born on April 10, 1939, in Kenyon, the son of Glenn Sr. and Arline (Johnston) Ronning. He graduated from Kenyon Schools, attended the University of Minnesota, and St. Olaf College. On June 27, 1959, he married Ione Dahl in Kenyon. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Kenyon, Rochester and Pine Island. Ione died May 5, 2008. He worked at IBM as a business planner, Western Digital, and Seagate. He was a previous member of the Pine Island School Board, Pine Island Golf Course Board, and a current member of Saint Paul Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, camping, and traveling. He was an avid Twins and Vikings fan.

He is survived by three sons, Jay (Julie) Ronning, of Plainview, Jeff (Leisha) Ronning, of Pine Island, Tim Ronning, of Pine Island; six grandchildren, Tony, Mike, Jake, Kristi, Josh and Adam; two brothers, Glenn Jr. (Carol) Ronning, Bruce Ronning; two sisters, Kay (Joe) Famulare, Karen (John) Loftus; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ione; and his parents.

Funeral will be 11 AM Thursday, November 17, 2011 at Saint Paul Lutheran Church with Reverend John Torris Lohre and Reverend Kip Groettum officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Island Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home- Mahler Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
