David R. Moses

David Rounce Moses age 65 of Lake City, MN passed away at the Lake City Hospital on Monday, March 1, 2010.
David was born July 16, 1944 in Faribault, MN to Royal and Elizabeth (Keusel) Moses. He grew up in Kenyon and graduated from Kenyon High School in 1962. David then continued his education at the Winona State College, graduating with a BS in elementary education in 1969. David married Karen Sather on March 18, 1967 at the Looney Valley Lutheran Church in Houston, MN. They lived in Lake City until 1969 when they moved to Corona, CA and there he taught for a year. They then moved to Lake City and he taught in Wabasha for two years. After selling insurance for New York Life, David went back to Winona State College for special education training. He taught special education for 3 1/2 years in Pierz, MN. He then taught special education coordinator in Faribault, where he retired in 1985. In 2003 David & Karen moved to Indonesia to teach at a Christian School until 2004. They opened Moz's Lakeside Coffee Emporium in June 2007. David was a member of First Lutheran Church of Lake City, First Lutheran Bible Studies, church choir, Lake City Kiwanis Club, and the Lake City Retired Teachers Group. David enjoyed teaching, coffee, fishing, camping, reading, and spending time with people. Family was very important to David, especially time spent with his grandchildren.
He is survived by wife, Karen; one son, Duren (Ceira) of Fairbanks, Alaska; one daughter, Karin (Eric) Wollan of Winona, MN; 7 grandchildren; one brother, Paul of Fridley, MN; two sisters, Sandra Brazil of Minneapolis, MN, Cynthia (Randy) Simmons of Richmond, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be Friday, March 5, 2010 at 11:00 AM at First Lutheran Church with Rev. Darren Paulson officiating. Burial will be at the Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 8 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel Lake City. Friends may also call one hour before the service at the church.
