David Raymond Minnick, 73, of Red Wing died Saturday, February 23, 2013, of heart failure, at the Casa Grande Regional Medical Center in Casa Grande, Arizona. He was born on February 23, 1940 in Red Wing to Raymond and Esther (Erickson) Minnick. He graduated from Red Wing High School 1958 and then took masonry training in Milwaukee. He worked for Lawrence Construction, Hernlem Cartage, which was Murphy Freightline and then he owned and operated R. W. Cartage Company for over 20 years. He then worked for Yellow Freight Line and Munson Trucking before working for the City of Red Wing, where he retired from. He was married on July 11, 1981 to Connie Myers. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, camping and family cruises on the lakes. His family recalls how he always enjoyed life to the fullest, whether it is was a good laugh, kidding around or having a good time with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife Connie, of 31 years; three sons, Anthony "Tony" (Randi) Minnick of Minneapolis, Darren (Jennie) Asleson of Farmington and Keith Asleson of Goodhue; seven grandchildren, Travis, Manton, Taylor, Cole, Jacob, Brynn and Cara; son-in-law, Bill McKinley of Red Wing and daughter-in-law, Gail Eischen-Minnick of Belle Plaine. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Jennifer Minnick-McKinley; one son, Thomas Minnick; his parents and one sister, Diane Bakke.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013 at First Lutheran Church with Rev. Brian Scott officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation.
