David James Olson

David James Olson, 71, of Red Wing, died Monday, November 20, 2023 at his home, after a lengthy illness.  He was born April 23, 1952 in Austin, MN to Joseph and Mildred Olson.  He graduated from Austin High School in 1970 and worked various jobs throughout his life but music was always a constant and consistent piece of his life that brought him joy.  He loved playing guitar, had taught lessons and played bass guitar in band in the early 80’s.  He also has his own entertainment gig as a DJ for KIXX Entertainment.  David had enjoyed the outdoors and fishing in his younger years and had a special bond with his 23 year old cat, Princess, who has preceded David in death, along with his parents and siblings, Richard, Marge, Arlene and Barb.

He is survived by his daughters, Katrina (Adam) Geike and Michelle (Jonas) Morehouse; son, Shon Olson; 6 grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Olson and long-time friend and companion, Faith Flagler.

An informal gathering for family and friends will be held on Saturday, Nov. 25 from 12-3p.m. at  1404 2nd St NW, Austin, MN.  Come for a bowl of chili and hang out by the fire while we share stories about David.  All who knew him are welcome.
