David Russell Harwick was born on November 14, 1936, in Kasson, Minnesota. Dave is the youngest of four boys born to Roger B. Harwick and Florence (Kleist) Harwick.
He graduated from Rochester High School in 1955 and enlisted in the United States Navy. His naval training school was at Massachusetts, and he was then based out of California. He served on board the USS Olmsted as a postal worker. He delivered the mail to the sailors and was always greeted well when he handed out the mail from home.
In Rochester, Dave met his life partner, Adeline Rubow. They were married in California and together had one son, Jeff. After the Navy service was over, they moved back to Rochester where Addie worked in nursing at the Mayo Clinic and Dave began his career at IBM. Sadly, in 1975, Jeff died in a fatal car accident.
In 1980 Dave and Addie moved to the Southwest again. They worked until retirement and lived in several homes in Arizona and Nevada, settling in Las Vegas. They loved the casinos and spent time with many friends there. Dave liked poker and card games. He played golf and enjoyed all the sunshine of the south. Addie passed away to cancer in December 2015. Dave also had health issues and decided to move back to Rochester, were his brothers still lived and to be closer to his family and Addie's family and many friends. He most recently lived at Fairway Ridge Senior Cooperative. This year, 2020, has been especially difficult for David. His health and his body failed for him, and he died Sunday, August 23rd at Seasons Hospice House. The pain and discomfort are now gone. He has rejoined with Addie and with Jeff. He was also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Cleon Harwick and Rolland Harwick.
David is survived by his brother Roger Harwick, one maternal aunt, Lillian Krahn, and several nieces and nephews, and many friends.
