David Grossbach, 76, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, April 4, 2024, at his home in Pine Island. David Ralph Grossbach was born April 25, 1947, in Rochester, Minnesota to Bernard and Helen (Houghton) Grossbach. He graduated from Mazeppa High School in 1965 and then attended Austin Vo-Tech and earned an associate degree in mechanics. David joined the United States Air Force soon after college.
He spent 4 years in the military and was honorably discharged in 1973. David was very proud of his accomplishments which included being a staff sergeant and a crew chief for a B-52 bomber. After discharge from the Air Force, he married Sandy Schanilec on August 7th, 1971, and they resided on the family farm in Mazeppa until 1987 when they sold the farm and moved into town.
David eventually started driving truck full time, in 1994. He worked for Land-O-Lakes, Case IH, and Hernke trucking before retiring in 2019. David loved spending time with his family, whether it be fishing, golfing or just relaxing.
David is survived by his children, Wendy (Neal) Kyllo of Zumbrota, Jenni (Tim) Paulson of Mantorville, Angie Grossbach (Jeremy Claxton) of Mazeppa, Jeff (Ashley) Grossbach of Kasson; grandchildren, Tori Kyllo, Brett Paulson, Tanner Paulson, Tyler Paulson, Riley Grossbach, and Brady Grossbach; sister-in-law, Judy (Lyle) Beiswenger of Grand forks, ND.He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Sandy.
The Celebration of Life will be Wednesday, April 10, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to ? at the Mazeppa American Legion. A private family burial will take place at Mazeppa Cemetery on Wednesday also. Online condolences are welcome and may be shared at mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
