David Glen Greer of Northfield, MN died on Sunday, November 3, 2024 at Zumbrota Care Center in Zumbrota, MN. The funeral service for him will be held at 11 AM on Friday, November 22, at Emmaus Church in Northfield. Visitation will be one hour prior to the church service, with interment to follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Northfield.
Dave was born in Denver, Colorado on December 3, 1942. As a child he moved with his parents to Casper, Wyoming, where he lived until graduation from high school. He attended Wheaton College, the University of Wyoming and Colorado State College. Later he earned an advanced degree from the University of Minnesota at Duluth. He was married to Janet Michelson in Martin, ND on August 24,1963.
Dave worked as a chemist for Shell Chemical Company in Denver, CO and in Mobile, AL, Potlatch Corporation in Cloquet, MN and Environmental Research Corporation in St. Paul, MN. Then, after working in sales for some years, he started his own businesses, BioChem, Inc. and AgriChem, Inc. He continued working with these for nearly 40 years while living in Andover, MN and Cambridge, MN. The businesses related mostly to products and equipment for processing of animal feed. During these years he also pursued his interest in politics, being actively involved at the precinct level and beyond.
While growing up in Casper, Dave participated with his family in the activities of their church and was baptized as a public testimony of his trust in Jesus Christ for salvation. In later years he served in various ways in his church, having a special interest in missions.
Dave had a love for nature, especially enjoying birds and wildlife. Camping trips to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness were a highlight of many summers. Photography was his hobby, but he found his greatest joy in spending time with family and treasured friends. His children, grandchildren and great grandchildren are a gift from the Lord and were all very dear to him.
In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his brother John. He is survived by his wife, Janet; brothers Robert (Sandra) and Steve (Becky); sister Barbara Pauk (Ron); daughter Julie Swanson (Mark) and son Bryan (Stacey); “adopted” daughter Adriana O’Meara (Glenn); Swanson grandchildren Daniel (fiancee Ye-Ye), Justin, Katherine and Amanda; Greer grandchildren David (Jessica), Christopher (Rebekah), Samuel (Janice), Michael, Nathan (Anitra), Lydia, Jonathan and Mari; great-grandchildren Charlotte and James.
