David Wesley Capps, age 70, of Rochester, passed away suddenly of a massive heart attack on Monday, December, 9, 2019. He was the husband of Lynda Capps, with whom he shared 43 beautiful years of marriage.
Born in Rochester, MN in 1949, David was the son of Curtis & Bettie Capps. He was a Registered Nurse for over 40 years, employed by the Rochester State Hospital and Mayo Clinic.
David was a passionate University of Minnesota sports fan, and especially loved the Golden Gophers football team. He and Lynda enjoyed 37 years of Gopher Football season tickets, countless tailgates, luncheons and trips, together with several of their friends.
Blessed with a quick, sarcastic humor, David was also known for his loyalty, kindness, good nature and fastidiousness. He loved the Lord, family and friends. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing trips, music, cooking, and traveling.
He is survived by his wife; his children, Josh Capps (Grand Marais, MN) and Cheyenne Capps (Jacksonville, FL); two sisters, Bobbie Miller, and Mary Ann Capps, both of Rochester, and several nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of life will be held at Marion Road Christian Church in Rochester (4051 50th Ave SE 55904) on Friday, December 20, with visitation at 10:00 am, service at 11:00 am and a luncheon to follow. Minnesota Golden Gopher attire is strongly encouraged for the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be directed to David's favorite charities. Mahn Family Funeral Home - Rochester Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Friends may share a memory at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
