David John Bollenbeck was born in Waukesha, WI on November 9, 1965. David died on October 5, 2022. He was 56 years old.
He was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Ellen Bollenbeck.
David is survived by his siblings, Leona Bollenbeck of Milwaukee, WI, Bill (JoAnne) Bollenbeck of Hastings MN, Bob (Michele) of Maplewood. MN, and Mark (Patty) Bollenbeck of Dallas Oregon. He is also survived by friends and housemates and staff at Lutheran Social Service Wilson house in Red Wing where he lived for many years.
David enjoyed time with his house mates and staff, especially if it involved a cup of coffee. He also looked forward eating lunch out. Although any restaurant was good, Perkins was his favorite. He loved to watch baseball on TV and in person and was a loyal Minnesota Twins fan. He like seeing the boats on the waterfront in downtown Red Wing and really enjoyed boat rides or ball games with family or group home staff.
David attended ProAct and Hillcrest for day activity programming where he participated in group activities, classes, and socializing over coffee and lunch. For some time, he did piece part work and received a small paycheck that he always felt made him wealthy. David fought through a life-long disability and several medical challenges especially in later years. David kept a cheerful disposition and taught family and friends how precious life is.
A memorial service will 11 a.m. Thursday, October 27, 2022, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel in Red Wing. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the Dawn Valley Cemetery in Bloomington, Minnesota. Memorials are preferred to Lutheran Social Service of Red Wing.
