David Mark Allen

David Mark Allen, “Doc”, age 64, died in his home in Pine Island on Monday, June 21, 2021. Dave was born January 6, 1957, in Rochester to Richard and Carol (Ackerman) Allen.

Dave grew up in rural Pine Island, participated in wrestling, track, cross country, Boy Scouts and attained the Eagle Scout designation. He graduated from Pine Island High School in 1975 then attended Rochester Vo-Tech where he studied drafting and design. He worked briefly as a draftsman and at Land O’Lakes for several years. Later in life, he worked at the Pine Island Golf Course, American Legion Club and PI Municipal Liquor Store.

Dave married Lorri Holsteen and they had a son, Michael, and were later divorced. He later married Colleen O’Reilly and they divorced.

Dave’s life was hunting, fishing, playing pool, and spending time with his many close friends. Dave was also a member of the Sons of the American Legion.

Dave is survived by his mother and stepfather, Carol and Wes Moreland, brothers, Larry Allen and Scott Allen, sisters, Patty (Scott) Maxson and Terri Felmlee, a son, Michael Allen (Aimee Wieck), grandson, Parker, aunt, Betty Berg, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Allen, brother-in-law Thomas Felmlee, grandparents, Gerald and Marguerite Allen, Lawrence and Arvilla Ackerman, and aunts and uncles, Robert and Barbara Wegman, Robert Allen and Palmer Berg.

Visitation will be held at Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Pine Island on Tuesday, June 29, from 10-11 a.m. followed by the funeral at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Jessica Bakken will officiate. A Celebration of Life will be held immediately after the service at the American Legion in Pine Island. Interment will be in Pine Island Cemetery.
