Darrel R. Miller

Darrel R. Miller age 81 of Pine Island passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 20, 2010. Funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Pine Island United Methodist Church with Reverend Greg Strunk officiating. Burial will be in Pine Island Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Monday, May 24, 2010 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Mahler Chapel in Pine Island and on Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Darrel Robert Miller was born on March 11, 1929 in Pine Island to Robert and Ruth (nee Stucky) Miller. He attended and graduated from Pine Island High School in 1947. On September 26, 1949 he married Ruby M. Goplen. They made their home in rural Pine Island. Darrel was active in the March of Dimes, a member of the IOOF Lodge and served on the Dodge County Fair Board. He was active in the DFL Party all his life and was most proud of his time serving in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 1972-1974. Darrel is survived by his loving wife, Ruby and three children, Bruce Miller of Pine Island, Cindy Geyer of Dana Point, CA and Renee Miller of Lino Lakes. He will be sadly missed by his eight grandchildren, Amy (Chris) Lazare, Sarah (Jeff) Stanley, Rachel and Tyler Borgeson, Emily (Dave) Nemecek, Bruche and Brandon Miller and Megan Geyer, three great grandchildren, Taylor and Carson Lazere and Juliet "Jude" Nemecek, twin sister Donna (Rollie) Shanks of Pine Island and his two cats Blackie and Angel. Darrel was preceded in death by his parents and son, Dale.
