Darleen Freiheit Burdick

Funeral services for Darleen Freiheit Burdick will be held Friday February 21st at 12:00 PM at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Larson Chapel in Zumbrota. The Rev. Randal Kasel will officiate. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will occur in spring at St. Mary's Cemetery in Bellechester. Ms. Freiheit Burdick died Sunday February 16, 2025 in Cumberland, Wisconsin.

Darleen was born November 22, 1938 to Chester Freiheit and Mary (née Poncelet) Freiheit. Following her father's death, she was adopted by her mother's second husband Nelson Burdick. Her passion from childhood and on through the whole of her life was horses, and of the countless horses she cared for none was more special than a horse named Blue. She took pride in all of her horses, and Darleen was a skilled barrel racer. Darleen would often search for 4-leaf clovers and would pass along her clovers to others as gifts. The St. Croix Casino in Turtle Lake always welcomed her, and it was their kindness to her that made the casino one of her favorite places to spend time.

Those left to cherish the memory of her are Stacy Hoehn, Daniel (Jean) Burdick, Ralph (Jane) Burdick, Adrian (Dolores) Burdick, James (Julie) Burdick, Mary Clare Goblirsch, and Theresa Woody.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers Richard Burdick and his wife Shirley, and Roger Burdick.
