OBITUARY: Daren R. Rietmann
Funeral services for Daren R. Rietmann will be at 11 AM on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at the Zumbro Community Church, 58324 County 7 Blvd., Zumbro Falls, Minnesota with Pastor Dave Mohler officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Prairie Dale Cemetery, rural Zumbro Falls.
Daren R. Rietmann, age 78, of Rochester died on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at the Lewiston Villa Nursing Home in Lewiston. He was born Daren Roger Rietmann on October 6, 1929 on the family farm in Mazeppa Township, Wabasha County, Minnesota to Henry and Helen (Beecher) Rietmann. Daren attended Red Bridge Country School, Wabasha County and graduated from Mazeppa High School. He entered the US Army and served during the Korean Conflict overseas in Japan. Following his Honorary Discharge, he returned to Minnesota. On February 6, 1956, he married Lela Rosella Whipple in Bear Valley. The couple lived on his parent's farm until October 1958 when they purchased their own farm in Zumbro Township. They moved into Rochester in October of 2007. Daren was a member of the Zumbro Community Church, the American Legion Post #588 of Mazeppa. He was known as a fixer-upper and also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Daren is survived by his wife, Lela; his son, Gary Lee (Bonnie) Rietmann; his daughter, Connie (Thomas) Reinhart, all of Rochester, MN; three grandchildren: Jason and Adam Rietmann and Calli Reinhart; one great-grandchild, Kiley Rietmann; one brother, Duane (Helen) Rietmann, of Rochester, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Helen.
Visitation will be from 10-11 AM on Saturday at the church before the service. Mahn Family Funeral Home � Larson Chapel in Zumbrota is in charge of the arrangements.
