Danny Moen

Danny Allen Moen, 53, of Olivia, formerly of Red Wing and Rochester, died on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park. He was born on January 25, 1971, in Red Wing to LaVerne and Delores (Mallan) Moen. He attended elementary school in Red Wing and graduated from Red Wing High School. Danny was in foster care programs in the Red Wing area. He later moved to Rochester and was part of the Possibilities Programs and then to Olivia, MN where he worked at ACTS (adult client training services). Danny had a half-sister, Melaine Hougo who lived in Rochester. When Danny lived in Rochester, he always looked forward to visiting with her, being their parents had died at a young age. 

In 2004, Peder and Gloria Dressel became his guardians and he joined their family of three boys and eventually their four grandchildren. He enjoyed his time with the Dressels, especially at Christmas. He attended Ascension Lutheran Church in Rochester with them and participated in JESUS CARES. Dan provided many special memories with the Dressel family especially the time when the grandchildren had received a Christmas gift of binoculars. Dan was intrigued by them and some how managed to bring the binoculars to church. He thought it was fun to watch Pastor Kom with them as he gave the sermon. Danny loved music and had the opportunity to visit Disney World which he thoroughly enjoyed. 

Danny is survived by his half-sister, Melanie Hougo of Rochester; guardians, Peder and Gloria Dressel of Rochester and their sons and grandchildren; his housemates along with other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father in 1977 and his mother in 1982. 

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at Ascension Lutheran Church in Rochester with Reverend Brian Kom officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the Burnside Cemetery in Red Wing. Arrangements are by the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel in Red Wing.
