OBITUARY: Daniel W. "Don" Webster

Mass of Christian Burial for Daniel W. "Don" Webster will be at 11AM on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Mazeppa with Father Robert G. Meyer and Father Caesar Dralega co-officiating. Active casketbearers will be Joe Camp, Jr., Jim Williams, Jack Webster, Josh Malinski, Greg Kirchhoff, Ryan Bellew, Pat Storey and Asher Timmerman. Honorary casketbearers will be Lee Timmerman and Jesse Timmerman. Music will be provided by Nancy Whetstone, organist, and Ann Storey, his niece, as cantor and soloist. The American Legion Post #588 of Mazeppa and the Mazeppa Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the church. He will be cremated following the service with private burial at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church Cemetery in Mazeppa.

Daniel W. "Don" Webster, age 89, of Rochester, formerly Mazeppa, died on Friday, November 28, 2008 in Rochester. He was born Daniel William Webster on July 8, 1919 in Mazeppa to William and Elizabeth (Wagner) Webster. He attended school in Mazeppa and graduated from Mazeppa High School in 1937. Daniel, or Don as he preferred to be called, worked for a time at CCC Camp before entering the United States Army where he served in World War II in the European Theatre of operation. On July 15, 1943, he married Vivian Hoffman at Camp Blanding, FL. Following his discharge, the couple returned to Mazeppa and Don attended Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis. He worked for the City of Mazeppa at the Municipal Light Plant as an electrician then later for NSP. He was a charter member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and a member of the Mazeppa American Legion Post #588 as well as a member of the senior citizens. Don enjoyed gardening, raising roses and watching birds.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian, of Rochester; one son Donald (Marietta) of Bloomington; three daughters: Janet (Jim) Williams of Rochester, Margaret (Lee) Timmerman of Phoenix, AZ and Katherine (Joe) Camp of Edina; six grandchildren: Jennifer (Ryan) Bellew, Melissa (Greg) Kirchhoff, Michele (Brent) Weeks, Kelsey (Josh) Malinski, Jesse and Asher Timmerman; one sister Adelaide Ludwar of St. Paul. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Elizabeth, one brother John Vincent and one granddaughter Abigail.

Visitation will be from 4-7PM on Monday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home � Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and one hour before services at the church on Tuesday.
