Daniel Vonch

Daniel Lake Vonch, 58, of Red Wing, died Saturday, December 19, 2015 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. He was born on February 4, 1957 in Red Wing to David and Anne (Lake) Vonch. He graduated from Red Wing High School in 1975 and furthered his education over the years with a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Cardinal Stritch University. Dan also earned his Executive Certificate in Leadership from the University of Notre Dame-Mendoza College of Business in recent years. On May 27, 1977 he married Susan Bakke and they later divorced. Dan had a love and extreme talent for working in the manufacturing industry. He has worked for Durkee-Atwood, Jostens in Red Wing, and Anagram International in Eden Prairie for many years before taking over his father's business, Vonch Agency. On June 9, 1984 he married the love of his life, Karen Treichler. He was a member of the Church of St. Joseph where he was a part of the Knights of Columbus. He was also named the 2015 Irish King of Red Wing. He was a sports enthusiast, coaching many youth sports and also coaching at the varsity level. His family recalls his love for hunting, fishing, and golfing especially with dear friends and all of his children.

Survivors include his wife, Karen; four children, Joshua (Jessica) Vonch of Denver, Colo., Andy Vonch, Janae Vonch and Katelyn Vonch all of Red Wing; two grandchildren, Noah and Sadie and one more due in June; two sisters, Michelle (Scott) Gruebele of Burnsville and one brother, Deborah (Chris) Barth of Red Wing and David Vonch, Jr. of Red Wing along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mass of Resurrection will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at the Church of St. Joseph with Father Thomas M. Kommers presiding. Burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, December 28 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and at the church for one hour prior to the service.
