Daniel H. Hedberg age 71 of Mazeppa died suddenly on Wednesday morning, September 1, 2010 at his home. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, September 4, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Mazeppa with Reverend Alan Horn officiating. Burial will be in the Mazeppa Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, September 3, 2010 from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Daniel H. Hedberg was born on August 30, 1939 in Winona, MN to Andrew and Avis (nee Harper) Hedberg. He lived in Winona for two years and then in Chicago for another two years. In 1943 his family moved to the Harper farm on U.S. Hwy 52 between Pine Island and Zumbrota. He attended two country schools and one year at Pine Island High School. In 1955 his family moved to Rochester, where he graduated with the first class of John Marshall High School in 1959. On June 20, 1964 he married Betty Jane Larson at St. John's Lutheran Church in Mazeppa. Dan worked for seven years for the Rochester Post-Bulletin as a paperboy and in the mail room. He was a stock clerk at Piggly-Wiggly at Northgate for seventeen years, he worked at the Kahler Hotel for six years as a ramp attendant, he was a stock clerk at Mayo Clinic for thirty-three years, and was a carryout/stocker at Hub Food Center in Zumbrota for eighteen years. Dan liked to scrapbook newspaper clippings, listen to old time polka and waltz music and Twins baseball. He enjoyed watching Law and Order, SVU and Smack-Down.

Dan is survived by his wife of 46 years, Betty; two sons, Scott Hedberg and Dennis Hedberg of Mazeppa; brother, Nick Hedberg of Rochester; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Kelly and Joyce Larson of Mazeppa, Chris and Diane Friedrich and Lorraine Zimmermann all of Zumbrota; nieces and nephews, special friends, Jerry and Dorothy Arends of Rochester and Mike and Connie Schad of Zumbro Falls. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, brother-in-law, Vail Hall; sister-in-law, Donna Hall and brother-in-law, Wayne Zimmermann.
