Dan Lee Augustin, 46, of Red Wing, died Monday, February 6, 2006 at Centro Medico in Rio Padras, Puerto Rico while vacationing. He was born March 19, 1959 in Red Wing to Harold and Margaret (Westervelt) Augustin. He was a 1977 graduate of Red Wing Central High School and a 1979 graduate of the Hutchinson Vo-Tech, where he received a degree in Diesel Mechanics. Following school, he worked at Nord Implement in Zumbrota. On October 25, 1980, he married Jody Dankers. He began working for the City of Red Wing in 1985 as a mechanic and he also farmed and started his own repair shop in 1989 called Dan Augustin Repair. He was currently working for the City as the head mechanic and was also a member of the AFSCME Council #65 local 737. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and had been involved in the church softball league. He was also a youth basketball coach and he enjoyed snowmobiling, going to the cabin in Cumberland, boating and fishing.He is survived by his wife, Jody Augustin; two children, Marissa and Tyson Augustin, both at home; his father, Harold Augustin of Red Wing; two brothers, Brian Augustin of Red Wing and Kevin (Barb) Augustin of Frontenac; two step brothers, Scott (Sheila) Peterson of the Twin Cities and Tod (Deanna) Peterson of Red Wing;several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, twin infant brother, Randy and his step-mother, Loretta Augustin.Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hay Creek with Reverend Lowell Sorenson officiating. Burial will be a church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike Rehder, Eric Anderson, Steve VanDeusen Craig Hinrichs, Gary Grover, Rick Moskwa, Ross Meacham and Neil Stemmann. Honorary pallbearers will be Becca and Curtis Augustin, Kari, Heidi and Amber Steffenhagen, Adison and Salina Jaeger and Aaron Peterson. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and at the church for one hour prior to the services. Memorials are preferred to the donor?s choice. Additional seating for the funeral, with video set-up, will be available at the Immanuel Lutheran School next to the church.
