Damian Paul Boggs, 32, of Red Wing, died Sunday morning at his home. He was born March 29, 1976 in Minneapolis and attended Red Wing High School, graduating in 1998. After graduating he worked for ProAct. He was a member of Church of St. Joseph and was involved in Special Olympics. He also volunteered at the Red Wing Food Shelf and the Goodhue County Humane Society. He enjoyed arts and crafts, music and socializing.
He is survived by two brothers, Tony (Monica) Hirmer of San Diego, Calif. and Leon Boggs of St. Paul; three nephews; several aunts, uncles and cousins; his guardian Dave Glover; his housemates, Ryan Nordin, Peter Nelson and Joe Medlen; and many Lutheran Social Service Staff who cared for him.
Funeral service will be 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of St. Joseph with Father Thomas M. Kommers officiating. A private burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Vonnie Boles, Marty Kelly, Ryan Nordin, Peter Nelson, Joe Medlen, and Heidi Befort. Honorary pallbearers will be Mary Haugen, Lori Olson, Laurie Hassett, Tonya Girgen, Judy Trutna, Mikayla Barry, Denese Vanberg, LaVergne Dickerson and Dawn Stanaitis. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. at the church on Tuesday. Memorials preferred to Red Wing Special Olympics. Funeral arrangements handled by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
