Dale Eugene Veith, 88, of Red Wing, died Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at the Mayo Clinic Health System - Red Wing Hospital. He was born on May 5, 1925 in Hay Creek Township, Goodhue County, Minnesota to John and Edna (Stumpf) Veith. He attended rural schools in Hay Creek Township and Red Wing Schools. He served in the US Army from 1945-1946. On May 27, 1947 he married June Pflika at St. John's Lutheran Church in Red Wing. He worked at S.B. Foot Tannery for one year, farmed for a few years and then worked for Red Wing Shoe Company for 34 and half years, retiring in1986. He was a member of United Lutheran Church and the Burnson-Lillyblad VFW Post #1218. He served on the Midland Coop Board and in his spare time he enjoyed fishing, woodworking, traveling and the cabin at the lake.
Survivors include his wife, June of 65 years; two daughters, Kay Lee (Tom) Gysbers of Almena, Wis. and Dalette (Red) Schwalboski of Spicer, Minn.; two grandchildren, Kristin (Donald) Sirinek of Randolph and Ronelle Schwalboski (fiancé Chad Jeseritz) of Spicer; three great grandchildren, Kaidy, Joshua and Zachary Sirinek. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Leroy and Frederick and three sisters, Elaine Brumm, Virginia Langsdorf and Ione Finch.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2012 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Rev. Steve Timm officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in the Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday.
