Dale Roger Meier

Dale Roger Meier, age 83 of Lake City, was called home to heaven on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012, at the Lake City Hospital Mayo Health System, after a courageous battle with cancer lovingly surrounded by his wife and children.
He was born April 9, 1928 to Robert and Marjorie (Mapes) Meier in Prescott, Wisconsin. Dale graduated from Prescott High School. He married Joyce Rademacher on October 23, 1952 in Hastings, Minnesota. Dale started his work farming; he was a grain miller at King Midas Mill in Hastings, Tennant and Hoyt Flour Mill, which later became Pillsbury in Lake City, where he retired in 1990. He also worked at Wild Wings, Wise Ace Hardware, and Fiesta Foods in Lake City after retirement. He loved spending time with family and helping others. His backyard shows his love for bird watching, perennials and gardening. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Lake City. He was a member of the Lake City Board of Adjustment and Planning Commission from 1996 until 2004.
Dale is survived by his wife, Joyce of Lake City; two daughters, Pam (Neil) Klenke of Lake City and Julie Pfeilsticker of Wabasha; two sons, Terry (Laurie) Meier of Red Wing and Tony (Lisa) Meier of Zumbro Falls; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Jean (Bob) Opperman of Fostoria, Ohio; one sister-in-law, Marge Meier of Prescott, Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Junior Meier.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 13, 2012 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Lake City with Reverend Scott Fiege officiating. Burial will be in Bethany Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 12 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Honorary bearers will be his grandchildren, Holly (Klenke) Wallace, Andy Klenke, Mark Klenke, Mandie (Meier) Roberts, Stephanie Meier, Emily Meier, Joe Pfeilsticker, Sarah Pfeilsticker, Michelle Pfeilsticker, Kyle Meier and his great-granchildren, Carl Wallace, John Wallace and Isabella Maidlow (Pfeilsticker).
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Marshfield Cancer Clinic, 900 West Clairemont Avenue; Eau Claire, Wisconsin 54720. Online condolences may be sent at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
