Dale Erwin Buck, age 91 of Zumbrota, died Sunday, January 12, 2025 at the Zumbrota Care Center. He was born to Erwin and Vernice (Stary) Buck on July 7, 1933 in Zumbrota. He graduated from Zumbrota High School and enlisted into the Army National Guard. He served a little over two years in Germany. When he returned, he married Shirley Thompson on October 11, 1958 at Minneola Lutheran Church. They lived in Zumbrota where Dale worked for Larson Funeral Home and drove the ambulance along with being on the fire department for over 22 years. He had several other jobs before becoming a lineman for Goodhue County Rural Electrical Association “REA”. Dale retired in 1996 after 23 years of service. He was man that enjoyed the outdoors hunting, fishing, flowers, birds, and golfing. He was well known for his wood working skills, even teaching classes in it. He was also enjoyed animals having several wild pets such as a deer, raccoon, fox and others, but most of all he had was a dog lover, having different labs throughout his life. Dale was not a big talker but he was quite a character who always had a wise remark to make. He was a member of United Redeemer Church and the VFW Post 5727 Stary-Yerka where he was on the board.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley of Zumbrota; daughter, Jayne (Bob) Miller of Zumbrota; son, Dean of Zumbrota; two grandsons, Zachary and Alex Miller; sister, Arlis Borgstrom of Zumbrota; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Erwin and Vernice and brother, Spencer “Penny” Buck.
