Dagmar Stina Viola Thompson (Johnson) passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2014. Born on June 14, 1914, Dagmar is survived by her daughter Jane of Red Wing and her son James (Laurie) of Spring, TX. She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Dr. George C. Thompson, DC; an infant son, John Byron; and her great-granddaughter, Emma.
Dagmar lived in both St. Paul and Chicago before moving to Red Wing with George in 1950, where they made their home for over 60 years. A member of First Lutheran Church, Dagmar enjoyed the fellowship of the women's bible study and prayer circles as well as many social gatherings and festive meals that took place there over the years. Dagmar loved sewing, dancing, reading, practicing her Swedish, writing letters, and completing crossword puzzles. Throughout their marriage, she and George took great pride in travelling to all 50 states! Dagmar leaves behind a legacy of 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. The family wishes to acknowledge with special thanks, the nurses and caregivers at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park for their patient and kind care of Dagmar in the last years of her life.
Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 28, 2014 at First Lutheran Church with Reverend Brian Scott officiating. Dagmar's wishes to be buried near her husband George at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery will be honored at a later date. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, we encourage friends and family to make a donation in memory of Dagmar to either First Lutheran Church or St. Brigid's at Hi-Park.
