D. Louise Bremer

October 22, 1939 — March 4, 2015

D. Louise Bremer, age 75, of Rochester, passed away March 4, 2015 at the home she shared with her husband, Emery.
Louise was born October 22, 1939 at her parents' home (Paul and Julia (Edwards) Merkle), in rural Ohio City, Ohio. Louise attended grade school and graduated from Willshire High School, in Willshire, Ohio. Louise then attended and graduated from the School of Licensed Practical Nurses in Battle Creek Michigan. Louise worked at different hospitals in the East and in New York City before coming to St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. Louise married Emery Bremer on September 11, 1971 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bear Valley. The couple moved to Rochester and she continued her work at the hospital. She later worked at part-time at Prosthetic Laboratories. Following her retirement from the medical field she helped her husband on the farm.
Survivors include her husband, Emery, of Rochester, MN, a stepson; Arlan (Heidi) Spratte of Zumbrota, two grandsons; Samuel and Sully Spratte, both of Zumbrota and a granddaughter; Sabrina Spratte of Zumbrota, one sister; Ruby Merkle, of Coldwater, MI, six brothers; Richard (Lois) Merkle of Union City, MI, Gilbert R. Merkle, Sequin, TX, Robert (Gloria) Merkle, Malibu, CA, Kenneth (Marilyn) Merkle of Van Wert, Ohio, Marvin (Susan) Merkle of Coldwater, MI and Ray (Yong) Merkle of Renton, WA.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters-in-law.
Louise enjoyed playing piano, raising flowers and mowing lawn (when she was old enough to push an old reel type mower).
Visitation will be from 10-11:00 a.m. Friday, April 24, 2015 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church (2124 Viola Road NE, Rochester). Funeral services will be Friday, April 24, 2015 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with Reverend Fred Rengsdorf officiating. Inurnment will follow at Our Savior's Lutheran Columbarium on the church grounds.
Mahn Family Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials are suggested to Our Savior's Lutheran Church for the maintenance of the columbarium and garden.
