Cindy Kay Bakke, 60, of Red Wing, died Saturday, October 19, 2013 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. She was born March 17, 1953, in Red Wing, daughter of Dean and Lila (Nash) Plote. She grew up in Red Wing and graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1971. She attended two years of lab training and began her career as a lab technician at St. Johns Hospital in Red Wing. She later went on to work at the Interstate Medical Center, and was currently at Mayo Clinic Health Systems, Red Wing. On September 6, 1975, she married Lee Bakke at St. John's Lutheran Church. Cindy enjoyed visiting with her friends, shopping and photography. Most important to her were her children and grandchildren--she loved watching them grow up, going to their events and special activities and just spending time with them.
She is survived by her husband, Lee of Red Wing; two children, Katie (Mitchell) Brooks of Madison, SD and Karl (Christine) Bakke of Red Wing and five grandchildren, Jacob, Abigail, and Benjamin Brooks, and Madelyn and Henry Bakke. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at United Lutheran Church, with Reverend Justin Boeding officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions are preferred to the donor's choice.
