Curtis ?Mac? Wesley McDaniel, 90, of Wacouta and formerly of Austin, Minnesota died Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at the Lake City Nursing Home. He was born on August 26, 1915 in Odebolt, Iowa to Curtis and Lena (Anderson) McDaniel. He graduated from Rose Creek High School where he played on the basketball team. He then served in the U.S. Army in the European Theatre during World War II. Before serving in the military and after his honorable discharge he worked for Hormel in Austin for 44 years. On November 30, 1946 he married Lillian Johnson in Austin. Since 1955 they spent their summers in Wacouta and moved there permanently after his retirement. Lillian died in 2003. He was a member of the American Legion, Red Wing Snowmobile Club, assisting in grooming the trails and the Wacouta Township Board. He was very mechanically inclined and enjoyed fixing and building things. Survivors include two daughters, Gloria (Mickey) Payne of Dallas, Texas and Lynn (Richard) Findley of Billings, Mont. three grandchildren, Mandy Payne of Boulder, Colo., Ben Findley of Seattle, Wash. and Leah Findley of Billings, Mont.; two brothers, Lloyd (Jan) McDaniel of Oceanside, Calif. and Glenn (Marion) Mc Daniel of Albert Lea, Minn.; one sister, Doris Hollywood of Maryland and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, and one sister Betty Cairney. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Rev. Eugene Hasselquist officiating. Burial will be in the Grandview Memorial Garden Cemetery in Austin at 3 p.m. Pallbearers will be Mickey Payne, Richard and Ben Findley, Robert Midness and Chris and Mark Warrington. Honorary pallbearers will be Lloyd and Glenn McDaniel. Visitation will for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are preferred to the Parkinson Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, and New York, New York 10018 or to the donor?s choice.
