Curtis Gaven Ellingson, 83, of Red Wing, died Sunday, January 31, 2010 at the Fairview Seminary Home. Curtis was born May 1, 1926 in Decorah, IA to Christian and Gladys (Ness) Ellingson. He attended schools in Harmony, MN and then served in the U.S. Army during WWII, in which he participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He married Bette Rude on June 16, 1948.
He is survived by his wife, Bette; children, Michael Ellingson, Pam (Richard) Klatte, Mary (Terry) Barrette, Sue Herrmann, Steve Ellingson (Julie); 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Erik (Margie) Ellingson, John (Millie) Ellingson; three sisters, Arlene (Donald) Morem, Emma (Don) Rahm, Evelyn (Dean) Morem; nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Ethel Long and Delores Richardson.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, February 5, 2010 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Chaplain Cheryl Szabo officiating. Burial will be Friday at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
