Cory Hoffman

Wilfred W. "Cory" Hoffman age 97 of Pine Island formerly of Zumbrota died on Friday, July 16, 2010 at the Pine Haven Care Center in Pine Island. A memorial mass is scheduled for Monday, July 19, 2010 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Zumbrota with Father Tim Dolan officiating. Inurnment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, July 18, 2010 from 3:00 - 6:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and on Monday one hour prior to the mass at the church.
Wilfred Warren Hoffman was born on August 7, 1912 in Mazeppa, MN to George and Avilda (nee Scofield) Hoffman. He grew up in Mazeppa and was the Valedictorian for the Mazeppa High School, Class of 1930. He started working for the Civilian Conservation Corps. On August 31, 1940 he married Eloise Zeller in Mankato. They lived in Mankato and the Twin Cities for a short time. In 1943 Cory worked on the Alaskan Highway and in 1945 he returned to the Zumbrota area. Cory started working for International Harvestor dealers as a parts manager. The dealership name changed several times, but Cory remained as parts manager until he retired in 1977. After retiring Cory and Eloise enjoyed traveling in their motor home. Eloise died on October 8, 1984. Cory served on the Zumbrota City Council and enjoyed attending grandchildren's events, hunting and fishing. In 1977 Cory moved to Evergreen Place in Pine Island and eventually to the Pine Haven Care Center. Cory is survived by his sons, Joel T. (Libby) Hoffman of Mobile, Al and Randall (Rhonda) Hoffman of Berne; six grandchildren, Eric (Vicky) Hoffman, James (Melanie) Hoffman, Joel T. Hoffman Jr., Alyssa (Todd) McCoy, Crystal (Andy) Henslin and John Hoffman; seven great-grandchildren and several loving nieces and nephews. Cory was preceded in death by his son, John "Dick", wife, Eloise and two sisters, Mildred Deming and Loretta Koperski. Honorary bearers are his grandchildren.
