Cory Joe Clemens

**UPDATED SERVICE INFORMATION**   A celebration of Life for Cory Clemens will be on Sunday, May 16, 2021 from 2-4 p.m. at Kevin and Kathy Clemens' residence, 27360 Cty 7 Blvd., Welch, MN.

Cory Joe Clemens, 33, of Red Wing, died unexpectedly at his home, on Sunday, December 20, 2020.  He was born on March 9, 1987 in Minneapolis, MN and was adopted by his loving parents, Kevin and Kathy (Hauschildt) Clemens.  Cory grew up in Welch and attended Red Wing High School, graduating in 2008.  He had a great high school experience, making many friends with other students, teachers and paras.  He had a smile that would light up the room and some would say quite the charmer.   Though his speech wasn’t always clear, his facial expressions often told the story.  Cory participated in track and field for Special Olympics and also loved being able to swim.  For the past 12 years, he enjoyed working at ProAct in Zumbrota with a great support team.

At home, Cory spent time with family and enjoyed the support and love of his PCA care givers.  In 2010, Cory moved in to his LSS group home, River City, and made some of the best friends he’s ever had in his housemates and caring personal support team. Together, they enjoyed watching movies, listening to music, doing crafts and projects and going on trips.  He loved traveling and was able to enjoy vacations with both his family and group home family and was hoping to go on more.

Cory will be deeply missed by so many wonderful and caring people he’s encountered throughout his life, too many to name, but they have all made an impact on his life and his impression will be left on the hearts of many, including his parents, Kevin and Kathy of Welch; his brothers, Jamey (Molly) of Red Wing and Travis (Jeff) of Mpls.; nieces, Olivia, Elizabeth, Sakya and Kaley; grandparents, Richard & Yvonne Clemens of Welch; aunts, uncles and cousins and his housemates, Brian, Ryan and Peter; and his extended family of foster sisters and brother.

Cory was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gordon and Ruth Hauschildt; Papa Terry and Nana Nancy and his friends, Glen and Joe.
