Constance "Connie" Minerva Wentz, 70, of Diamond Bluff, died Tuesday, Feb. 16, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. She was born on July 28, 1939, in Red Wing to Tom and Ann (Erickson) Sundell. She graduated from Red Wing Central High School. On October 4, 1957, she was married to Roger Wentz. They later divorced and were remarried on March 21, 1970. She worked for Red Wing Shoe Company, Jostens, Red Wing Health Center and 63 Café of Hager City. Roger died on March 18, 2009. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Red Wing and her family remembers her for her baking, canning, doing crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, crocheting and watching wrestling. They also recall all the love she gave her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include three children, Julie (Randy) Thompson, Tim (Jeni) Wentz and Melissa (Steve) Langer all of Diamond Bluff; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren and one daughter-in-law, Mary Brandt of Welch. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and one son, Tom Wentz in 2000.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at First Lutheran Church in Red Wing with Rev. David Jore officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Diamond Bluff Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and at the church one hour prior to the service.
